UPLAC Bi-monthly Meeting: The monthly meeting of Dhamrai Union Parishad was held on the date 23.03.2022 Mr. Md. Mashiur Rahman, the newly elected Chairman of Dhamrai Union, said that I didn't have a good idea about legal aid before. I came to this meeting today and learned about legal aid issues. I also mentioned in this meeting that I am the President of the Union Legal Aid Committee. From then on, you will give a list of how many clients from Dhamrai Union Parishad to District Legal Aid Office, Dhaka at the next Bi- Monthly Meeting and who is coming to the Union Parishad for Legal aid services at the next meeting and I will monitor it by register.
Courtyard meeting: At the courtyard meeting in Taranagar union under Keraniganj Upazila on the date 21.03.2022 Ms. Salma Begum said my husband died 3 years ago. My husband's two brothers are occupying our Vitamati cultivation land. We have approached the local chairman and members about this and they have threatened us in various ways not to come up with this. We went to the local police station very helpless but did not take our case so we want to get legal help from you in the District Legal Aid Office, Dhaka.
UZLAC Bi-monthly Meeting: At the held on the date 21.03.2022 Ms. Yasmin Akter, Vice Chairman Nawabganj Upazila, Parishad Nawabganj said I sent a client to District Legal Aid Office Dhaka a few days ago, the woman was very helplessly and on her attacked and the woman made a General Diary at the police station. But the woman does not have the ability to prosecute. They have been told by the Legal Aid Office that only those who want to settle here are compromised and Legal aid is provided. We will notice your defendant to resolve your issue. This will be done here if they do not agree. We will forward the case. We do not know when this notice will be sent from the District Legal Aid Office. Assist you to the woman through the District Legal Aid Office so that this case can be resolved quickly.
Public Hearing: At the held on the date 23.03.2022 Mr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin (55) Subhadya union under Keraniganj Upazila said that the Check fraud has been going on in the court for two years and I had given it to the police station as an accused but the accused came out of the police station on bail. I met you at the public Hearing today and I want to know how to solve the problem through you. Senior Assistant Judge and District Legal Aid Officer and Mr. Rakibul Hasan said that the case of check fraud is a bailable offense and you have to wait till the court verdict. Since the case is pending we can expect a good result from the court so you have to be patient. At the held on the date 23.03.2022 Ms. Nupur Akhter (35), Subhadya union under Keraniganj Upazila, she says I have been married for 12 years since marriage My husband beats me for dowry and he drove me out of his house with my three children. I am now in my father's house with these three children. He did not provide for me and my three children and cut off communication with us I want to solve my problem through you at this public hearing. Senior Assistant Judge and District Legal Aid Officer Mr. Rakibul Hasan said that first see if your issue can be resolved through the local chairman located here, If you cannot resolve the issue locally, you should bring your marriage certificate and National ID card to the District Legal Aid Office. We will then issue a letter to your husband from the District Legal Aid Office to see if a compromise can be reached between you and your husband and if not, we will forward the case for maintenance.
Sensitization Session: At the held on the date 23.03.2022 Mr. Nasir Uddin Ahmed Dil Chairman of Nawabganj Upazila, Parishad Nawabganj said that through the sensitization session I got to see the real picture of the progress of PPJ project activities and program and the referral of the client to the District Legal Aid Office Dhaka. In fact, most of the time we are busy with politics and development of the area. Through this session, we learned about gender-based violence, violence extremism in powerpoint presentation and the impact of gender-based violence on our society are increasing, which we have seen from reports from various clients. Helping us to think anew inequality between men and women can still be noticed in our society. We should work to eliminate these inequalities and make the people more aware.
